Gemma Atkinson proposed for ‘MAK in the community‘ to take part in a Cords4Life UK charitable event after reading the article in May’s edition of MAK to the Future.
Cords4Life UK is a charity based in Kidderminster, England. The charity was set up with the goal to raise vital awareness of the importance of umbilical cord donations for public cord donation centre’s available within hospitals across the UK.
Many transplant centres in the UK use umbilical cord blood for transplanting children and adults with disease such as leukaemia. The more donations that are made the bigger the UK Cord Bank will be and the more likely we will be able to find donors for all those patients that need them.
Cords4Life (UK) believe that every parent-to-be should be informed of the benefits of cord blood
and given the choice to donate their baby’s cord. ‘So on the day they give birth, they can give life twice’.
MAK Services Ltd. took part in a fundraising activity called ‘Go Purple’ in aid of Charlie HarrisBeard on Friday 24th June by wearing something purple to work. We raised the incredible sum of £127.75 which was presented to Charlie’s parents Fiona & Joel Harris-Beard co-founders of Cords4Life (UK).
Big thank you to all MAK’s employees who took part and donated Money to this worthy cause.
